Amazon Launches New Affordable Color Screen Kindle

Amazon Expands Kindle Color Options with More Affordable Model
Amazon is broadening the accessibility of its color screen Kindle devices. Building upon the introduction of the Kindle Colorsoft last year, the company announced on Thursday a more budget-friendly iteration of the device, typically priced at $279.99.
This new version provides a $30 price reduction by offering 16GB of storage capacity instead of the original 32GB. Consequently, the cost is lowered to $249.99. A dedicated Kids edition is also now available for purchase.
Enhanced Visual Experience
The initial 7-inch Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition was created to deliver a more immersive visual experience for Kindle e-reader users. It’s particularly well-suited for viewing comics and graphic novels digitally, and for utilizing color-coded highlighting features.
The device boasts a customizable, glare-free display and provides up to eight weeks of battery life on a single charge. Furthermore, it allows users to invert the page’s color scheme, presenting white text on a black background – a feature akin to dark mode.
Features of the New 16GB Model
The newly released 16GB model retains the high-contrast Colorsoft display found in the original. It also includes the adjustable warm light, extended battery life, rapid page turning capabilities, and other key features.
As an added benefit, purchasers receive a three-month subscription to Kindle Unlimited, granting access to a library of over 4 million e-books.
Differences from the Signature Edition
However, certain features present in the Signature Edition will not be included in this new model. These omissions encompass the auto-adjusting front light, wireless charging functionality, and the larger storage capacity.
Kindle Colorsoft Kids Edition
The Kindle Colorsoft Kids version comes equipped with an illustrated cover, a two-year guarantee, and a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids+. This subscription unlocks access to a wide range of content, including books, games, videos, and applications.
Priced at $269.99, this device incorporates several features designed to aid children in developing their reading skills. These include a vocabulary builder, the Word Wise tool for learning new words, the OpenDyslexic font, and Bluetooth connectivity for audiobook listening.
