Siri Update: Apple's Modernized Siri May Not Arrive Until 2027

Apple's Challenges in Revamping Siri for Generative AI
Apple is currently facing difficulties in reconstructing Siri to align with the advancements in generative artificial intelligence. This information comes from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, who suggests a fully updated, conversational iteration of Siri may not be available until the release of iOS 20 in 2027.
Upcoming Siri Updates
Despite this timeline, significant improvements to Siri are still anticipated in the near future. A revised version of the assistant is expected to be unveiled in May, integrating the Apple Intelligence features initially presented almost a year ago.
A Dual-Brain System
Gurman details that this forthcoming Siri version will operate with “two brains.” One component will manage conventional tasks, such as timer settings and initiating phone calls. The other will handle more complex requests, utilizing user data for enhanced responses.
Internally referred to as “LLM Siri,” a unified system combining these two functionalities is projected to be revealed at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June. Its launch is currently scheduled for spring 2026.
Full Development and Future Rollout
According to Gurman, it will be after this integration that Apple can dedicate its resources to the complete development of Siri’s more sophisticated capabilities. The subsequent release of these advanced features is then anticipated the following year.
