Recent criticisms regarding Siri’s performance on even fundamental inquiries have prompted a leadership reshuffle within Apple's artificial intelligence division. Reports indicate that Apple CEO Tim Cook is implementing changes to revitalize the development of Apple’s AI capabilities.

New Leadership for Siri

According to sources at Bloomberg, Mike Rockwell, presently the Vice President of the Vision Products Group – the team responsible for the Vision Pro – will now assume leadership of the Siri team. This move signifies a strategic realignment of resources and expertise.

The shift in responsibility comes as Cook has reportedly expressed a lack of confidence in John Giannandrea, the current head of AI, regarding his ability to effectively drive product development. Consequently, Giannandrea will be relinquishing his oversight of Siri.

Following Rockwell’s transition, Paul Meade, formerly the head of hardware engineering for the Vision Pro, will take the helm of the Vision Products Group. This ensures continuity and focused direction for the ongoing development of Apple’s spatial computing initiatives.
