Swizzle Ventures Completes Fund I Raise

Swizzle Ventures has successfully finalized its Fund I with a total of $6.6 million in commitments. This exceeds the firm’s original fundraising goal of $3 million, as confirmed by founder Jessica Kamada in a statement to TechCrunch.

Previously, in December, TechCrunch reported on Swizzle Ventures’ fundraising progress. The firm, which began operations in 2023, had already surpassed $5 million in commitments according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Fund I Investment Focus

The investment strategy for Fund I will center around companies addressing challenges and opportunities in both women’s health and wealth. This includes areas like financial planning and the provision of caregiving services.

Kamada revealed to TechCrunch that a significant portion – 70% – of the fund’s Limited Partners (LPs) are women. Furthermore, half of the LPs possess specialized expertise directly relevant to the fund’s core investment themes.

Investment Details and Portfolio

Swizzle Ventures intends to make initial investments ranging from $100,000 to $200,000. These investments will be targeted at companies in the pre-seed and seed stages of development.

To date, the firm has already provided funding to 11 companies. The goal is to expand this portfolio to include a total of 30 companies funded through Fund I.

Founder Background and Market Timing

Jessica Kamada, who leads Swizzle Ventures from Seattle, brings a wealth of experience in marketing and startup advisory. She publicly shared on LinkedIn that she departed from a nearly eight-year tenure at a previous role without a defined next step.

The launch of Swizzle’s Fund I coincides with a pivotal moment in several key areas. A growing crisis exists in caregiving accessibility, women’s health is receiving increased attention, and a substantial transfer of wealth is anticipated as older generations pass down assets.

Experts forecast a historic surge in capital as the “wealth transfer” accelerates, positioning Swizzle Ventures to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
