A recently announced collaboration between DoorDash and Klarna now allows customers to purchase items like burritos or McDonald’s orders and settle the bill through four installments without incurring interest.

Increased Flexibility, Potential Risks

Both companies assert that this arrangement offers diners – those with orders totaling at least $35 – greater financial flexibility. However, individuals choosing to postpone payment for a fast-food delivery face a considerably elevated risk of missing an installment.

For many observers, this new partnership represents another concerning indicator of current economic conditions. Chuck Bell, representing Consumer Reports, explained to the New York Times: “Failure to make timely payments and the subsequent accumulation of late fees could transform a simple meal, such as a chile relleno or pad thai, into a surprisingly expensive proposition.”
