Demostack Raises $17.5M to Revolutionize Demo Building

Demostack Secures $17.5 Million to Revolutionize Software Demos
Demostack, a startup focused on simplifying the creation of software demonstrations, has announced the completion of a $17.5 million funding round. This announcement coincides with the company’s official emergence from stealth mode.
Funding Details
The funding is comprised of a $13.5 million Series A investment, spearheaded by Bessemer Venture Partners, with additional support from GTM Fund and various individual investors. Previously, Demostack secured a $4 million seed round in December, led by Amiti Ventures, and including contributions from Operator Collective, Cerca Partners, and a number of individual investors. Notably, all initial seed investors also participated in the Series A round.
Addressing the Challenges of Software Demonstrations
A common hurdle for software companies lies in crafting effective demos. These demonstrations must showcase full functionality without compromising sensitive customer data or creating an unrealistic experience. Jonathan Friedman, co-founder and CEO, encountered this issue firsthand in a prior role, motivating him to develop a solution.
“Our goal is to establish an ideal demo environment, one that is directly managed by sales and marketing teams,” Friedman explained. “This eliminates the need for engineering involvement and allows for automatic customization tailored to each potential client.”
Eliminating "Demo Anxiety"
Friedman highlighted the anxieties associated with traditional demos. Concerns about technical glitches or accidental data exposure are prevalent. “The stress surrounding demos is significant. Protecting PII (personally identifiable information) and preventing unauthorized access to our production environment proved unsustainable,” he stated.
Demostack was founded to resolve these issues. The platform offers a comprehensive demo-building toolkit, beginning with an environment recording that replicates the live product’s look and feel. It also enables automated customization using variables, such as customer names, which integrate with CRM tools to populate demo data dynamically.
Investor Perspective
Adam Fisher, a partner at Bessemer Venture Partners, the lead investor, expressed enthusiasm for Demostack’s potential. “Demostack provides software businesses with a substantial competitive edge, enhancing customer engagement and replacing outdated, unreliable demos,” he commented.
Growth and Diversity
Currently, Demostack employs 20 individuals and intends to expand its team threefold by year-end. The company is prioritizing diversity within its workforce, viewing it as a fundamental element of its success.
“We are proactively focusing on diversity because it’s not merely a benefit; it’s essential,” Friedman emphasized. “Understanding diverse perspectives is crucial for grasping how different individuals perceive reality. A lack of this understanding hinders the development of a truly successful company.”
Product Launch and Public Unveiling
Demostack initially launched in September and released its first product version in February. Today marks the company’s public debut.
Note: This article has been updated to reflect a change in the total funding amount, which was revised from $17.3 million to $17.5 million.
