Dropbox Free Storage: Up to 25GB for Students & Schools

Dropbox Expands Free Storage Options
Dropbox consistently provides its users with increased opportunities for free storage. This began with the initial 500 MB bonus for referrals and expanded to include an additional 500 MB for uploading photographs.
Currently, students enrolled in colleges and universities globally are eligible for Dropbox’s Space Race Program. This program offers an extra 3 GB of Dropbox storage for a period of two years.
Program Benefits for Schools
Beyond individual student benefits, the Space Race Program also extends advantages to educational institutions. Qualifying schools can receive up to 25 GB of storage space, also for a duration of two years.
While Dropbox provides these generous free options, it also aims to encourage users to consider premium upgrades. However, as a prominent cloud service provider, Dropbox demonstrates considerable generosity with its free offerings.
It’s important to note that the 3 GB of storage is supplemental to the standard 2 GB of free space granted to all new Dropbox users.
Eligibility Requirements
To participate in the Space Race Program, certain criteria must be met:
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or equivalent higher education institution.
- Registration requires an active email address associated with the applicant’s school. Existing Dropbox accounts are also eligible.
- The applicant’s institution must have a minimum of 25 students participate in the program.
The program was active between October 15 and December 10, 2012. Interested individuals could register by visiting www.dropbox.com/spacerace.
Any storage gained through the program was scheduled to expire on January 15, 2015, at which point accounts would revert to their original free storage allocation.
