Presso Raises $1.6M to Revolutionize Hollywood Dry Cleaning with Robotics

Presso, a company pioneering robotic dry-cleaning solutions, revealed today that it has successfully secured $1.6 million in a pre-seed funding round. The investment was led by Pathbreaker, AME Cloud Ventures, SOSV, 1517 Fund, and YETI Capital. This Atlanta-based company has engineered a self-service kiosk that can dry clean an item of clothing in approximately five minutes.
Originally targeting business travelers with a strategy to place machines in hotel corridors, the company adapted its approach due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic – a common adjustment for startups in 2020. Presso has since concentrated its resources on supporting the film and television industry. The company states that its most recent technology can process and sanitize as many as 150 costumes daily, addressing a significant need as numerous studios have resumed production despite ongoing health concerns. Representatives from Netflix, HBO, Apple TV, FOX, Disney, and Hulu have all expressed interest in Presso’s capabilities.
With this new investment, Presso’s total funding now reaches $2.2 million. The company intends to utilize these funds to expand its manufacturing capacity and increase its team size by 100% within the next half-year. It is anticipated that the team will also revisit its initial plans, such as hotel deployments, as travel volumes increase across the United States.
