ElevenLabs Launches Mobile App for On-the-Go Voice Clip Generation

ElevenLabs, a leading voice AI innovator, has recently unveiled a dedicated mobile application compatible with both iOS and Android operating systems. This new app empowers users to create voice clips directly from text input.

Previously, generating audio samples utilizing ElevenLabs’ advanced AI voice libraries necessitated the use of its web-based application. Now, the convenience of on-the-go clip creation is available through this newly released mobile app.

Utilizing the ElevenLabs Mobile App

The process of generating audio is straightforward. Users simply input text, either by typing or pasting, and then select a voice that aligns with their requirements.

The free tier provides access to approximately 10 minutes of audio generation time. Different models are available, allowing users to optimize for both cost-effectiveness and audio quality, all within a shared credit system across both web and mobile platforms.

ElevenLabs has also announced that the application incorporates access to v3 alpha, its latest generation of text-to-speech models. These models introduce the capability to modulate expressions through the use of specialized tags.

Driven by User Demand

Jack McDermott, the company’s mobile growth lead, shared with TechCrunch that a significant number of creators were already leveraging mobile web browsers to produce voice samples. These samples were then integrated into video projects using applications such as CapCut, Instagram, and InShot.

Recognizing this existing demand, ElevenLabs sought to develop a dedicated, native mobile experience.

“Throughout the past year, we’ve observed a remarkable surge in creativity within our community – encompassing content creators, marketers, educators, voice artists, and professionals. They are actively utilizing ElevenLabs to realize their projects,” McDermott explained. “Many have been accessing ElevenLabs via mobile web browsers and have requested a more streamlined, intuitive, and robust experience specifically designed for mobile devices.”

Competitive Landscape and Future Developments

The launch positions ElevenLabs as a competitor to other voice cloning and generation platforms, including Speechify and Captions.

This mobile app represents ElevenLabs’ second direct-to-consumer application, following the release of the Reader app last year. The Reader app enables users to enjoy audio versions of articles, blog posts, PDFs, and e-books while on the move. Earlier this year, the Reader app was expanded to allow publishers to distribute audiobooks.

Looking Ahead

Future development plans include the integration of additional features, such as speech-to-text functionality and a conversational AI agent tool. The company also intends to incorporate MCP-powered experiences, like 11.ai, directly into the app.
