However, the method used to circumvent Donald Trump’s existing ban on these prominent social media platforms proved to be short-lived.

Facebook's Policy Enforcement

Facebook reportedly issued a prompt warning to Ms. Trump, clarifying that any content presented “in the voice of President Trump” is currently prohibited on both Facebook and Instagram.

Such content would be subject to immediate removal, according to the platform’s guidelines.

The former president remains suspended from Facebook, pending a ruling from the Oversight Board.

This independent body was established by the company to address complex and challenging platform governance issues.

Scope of the Restrictions

These regulations extend to all accounts and pages linked to the Trump campaign.

They also encompass accounts belonging to individuals who previously served as campaign surrogates, a category to which Lara Trump’s account belongs.

Facebook has verified the authenticity of email screenshots shared with TechCrunch, confirming the communication regarding these policies.

Limited Exemptions and Workarounds

A news exemption does exist for Trump on Facebook, likely intended for formal interviews such as those conducted by “60 Minutes.”

However, this case involved an interview conducted by a campaign insider, with plans for promotion through a campaign-affiliated account.

In response, Lara Trump utilized an alternative approach, sharing a link to the interview on Rumble, a video-sharing platform that experienced a surge in users supportive of Trump towards the end of the previous year.
