GE Lighting Expands Smart Home Lineup - Thermostats, Cameras & More

GE Lighting Expands Smart Home Product Range
GE Lighting, now a Savant company, is broadening its offerings in the smart home market. This includes a new smart thermostat, temperature sensor, a selection of security cameras, and a variety of new lighting products.
Following the sale of its GE Lighting division to Savant in 2020, the company – currently operating as GE Lighting (a Savant company) – is showcasing its latest innovations at CES in Las Vegas. These new products fall under the Cync brand, previously known as C by GE.
Focus on Seamless Integration and User Experience
“The most effective smart home is built on a network of dependable products that function together effortlessly and are simple to install and operate,” stated Paul Williams, VP of Experiences at GE Lighting. “Our new products empower consumers to enhance their Cync smart home with comprehensive capabilities, all without requiring a hub and controlled via a single app or voice commands.”
Introducing the Cync Smart Thermostat
The new Cync smart thermostat provides all the standard features expected of a smart thermostat, with some added benefits. Notably, it doesn’t require a common wire for installation.
This allows for easy integration into older apartments and homes with various thermostat types, bringing smart home technology to a wider range of users. The thermostat is available now for approximately $120.
Enhanced Temperature Control with Room Sensors
The thermostat can be used in conjunction with the $30 Room Temperature Sensor. This allows for monitoring of individual room temperatures.
For homes with central air, this can help optimize vent adjustments, addressing temperature discrepancies between rooms. For example, a consistently warmer bedroom can be corrected by adjusting airflow.
New Cync Outdoor Smart Cameras
Building on its existing outdoor camera, Cync is releasing new additions to the lineup. These include wired and battery/solar-powered options for the Cync Outdoor Smart Camera.
The cameras feature 2K/1280P high-definition video, night vision, and a “digital swivel head” for adjustable viewing angles. They also offer cloud and local SD card storage options for enhanced privacy and security.
Pricing starts at $100 for the wired version, $120 for the battery-powered model, and an additional $45 for the solar panel.
Expanding Lighting Options
GE Lighting has introduced 11 new lighting products, expanding design possibilities for homes. These include smart decorative filament-style bulbs in shapes like candelabra and globe, as well as a new range of general-purpose bulbs.
The new bulbs are available in both white and full-color options, and feature Wi-Fi connectivity for voice control, scheduling, and scene creation, all managed through the Cync app.
Compatibility with Major Smart Home Platforms
The Cync app is compatible with Amazon’s Alexa, Google Home, and Apple’s HomeKit, ensuring broad integration with existing smart home ecosystems.
This allows users to control their Cync devices using their preferred voice assistant or smart home platform.
