Chromebooks have consistently demonstrated exceptional sales figures over the last year, achieving remarkable quarterly results. While the broader market for PCs and tablets has benefited from the shift towards remote work and education, Google’s operating system has experienced the most significant growth.

This success is largely attributable to Google’s strong position within the education sector.

Expanding into the Enterprise Market

Having established a firm presence in education, Google is now actively targeting the enterprise market – a domain historically controlled by Microsoft, with some influence from Apple.

Today, Google announced the introduction of a new line of docks as part of its Works With Chromebook certification program, which was initiated last year.

New Docking Solutions

Initial partners in this launch include Targus, Belkin, Acer, and Hyper. The primary objective is to enhance the functionality of Chromebooks for professional work environments.

Two distinct types of docks are being offered: one tailored for remote work scenarios and another designed for traditional office or enterprise settings, according to Google.

Availability and Pricing

Further specifications will be released by the participating third-party manufacturers in the coming months.

For example, the Hyper docking system, shown above, is scheduled for release in August with a price of $240, which is comparable to the cost of some Chromebook models.
