Cuckoo Internet Raises $6M to Disrupt UK Broadband

Cuckoo Internet Secures $6 Million Funding to Disrupt U.K. Broadband Market
Cuckoo Internet, a new entrant aiming to challenge established providers in the U.K. broadband sector, has successfully completed a $6 million investment round. The funding was spearheaded by RTP Global, with additional investment from JamJar Investments.
Investor Background
RTP Global has a strong track record, having previously invested in prominent companies like Yandex, Delivery Hero, and Datadog. JamJar Investments’ portfolio includes well-known brands such as Bulb, Deliveroo, Tails, and Oatly.
The investment round also saw participation from former leaders at Monzo and Stripe, demonstrating confidence in Cuckoo’s vision.
Cuckoo’s Broadband Offering
Cuckoo differentiates itself by offering a straightforward broadband package. It currently provides a single 67 Mb/s fibre optic deal.
This service is available on a flexible monthly rolling contract, and the company emphasizes a commitment to transparency with “no hidden fees.”
Statements from Leadership
According to Alexander Fitzgerald, founder and CEO of Cuckoo, “The broadband market is broken and consumers are being ripped off every day.”
He further stated that the increased reliance on home internet due to remote work has highlighted the need for fast, reliable, and affordable broadband. Fitzgerald believes this funding will allow Cuckoo to assist a significant number of customers in simplifying their broadband experience.
Market Disruption and Future Outlook
Gareth Jefferies, a partner at RTP Global, commented on the state of the consumer broadband market. He described it as large yet underserved, noting consumer frustration with unfavorable pricing, rigid contracts, and poor customer service.
Jefferies anticipates a wave of challenger providers, similar to those seen in other sectors like insurance and banking, will emerge to compete with existing companies by offering innovative packages and prioritizing customer satisfaction.
Cuckoo will also be launching its services on the price-comparison website uSwitch, increasing its visibility to potential customers.
