Kargo Fabrik: Next-Generation Publishing System

Kargo Launches Fabrik: A New Content Management System
Kargo, a leading digital advertising firm, has announced the launch of a new product and dedicated business unit named Fabrik.
Addressing Publisher Challenges
Harry Kargman, Founder and CEO, clarified that Fabrik is a content management system (CMS) specifically engineered to meet the evolving requirements of modern publishers.
It is seamlessly integrated with Kargo’s existing advertising technologies.
A Broader Mission: "Saving Publishing"
Kargman articulated that this launch represents a key component of Kargo’s overarching objective: “saving publishing.”
While the company has historically focused on enhancing ad experiences and monetization, Kargman believes a more comprehensive approach is now necessary.
The Problem of Website Speed
A significant issue Kargman identified is the sluggish performance of many websites.
He noted that excessive “weight” leads to slow loading times, negatively impacting both user engagement and Google search rankings.
Fabrik's Solution: Speed and Efficiency
The core aim of Fabrik is to deliver a “lightning fast” web experience.
The OK Magazine website serves as a demonstration of Fabrik’s capabilities.
A crucial element in achieving this speed is the elimination of third-party trackers and plugins, which Kargman referred to as “the death of the internet.”
Prioritizing Core Web Vitals
Michael Shaughnessy, COO, emphasized that Fabrik was developed with Google’s best practices and Core Web Vitals in mind.
The system is designed to strategically load content, avoiding elements that would compromise performance.
Complementing Diversified Revenue Models
With many publishers exploring alternative revenue streams like subscriptions and memberships, Shaughnessy positioned Fabrik as a complementary tool.
By “simplifying the foundation,” Fabrik allows teams to concentrate on developing and implementing new commercial strategies.
Advertising Integration and Publisher Freedom
Kargman stated that Fabrik incorporates Kargo’s adtech, making its use highly advantageous.
However, he stressed that publishers are not obligated to exclusively utilize Kargo’s advertising services.
Publishers will retain the flexibility to monetize their sites through various methods, including branded entertainment deals.
Fabrik as a Separate Business Unit
Fabrik will operate as a distinct business unit under the Kargo umbrella.
It will have its own customer base and will be led by a dedicated CEO, with Kargman currently in discussions with potential candidates.
An announcement regarding the CEO appointment is anticipated in the near future.
