Meta Launches New Features & Tools for Facebook Live Creators

Meta Enhances Facebook Live with New Creator Tools
Meta, the company previously known as Facebook, is introducing a range of updates for Facebook Live. These enhancements are designed to improve creator engagement with their audience during live broadcasts.
New Features for Enhanced Interaction
Several new features are being launched, including interactive Polls, expanded co-broadcasting capabilities, and improved commenting functionalities. Creators can now utilize “Live With” to collaborate with up to three guests simultaneously.
Furthermore, a new post format is being implemented, alongside the ability to add links directly to broadcasts. The “Live in Stories” feature allows creators to share their livestreams to Facebook Stories, increasing potential viewership.
Boosting Creator Monetization and Support
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, previewed these additions and hinted at further updates following the launch of the online Stars store earlier this week.
This new online store bypasses app store commissions, passing the savings onto fans by offering more Stars – the virtual currency used for tipping creators – for the same monetary value as in-app purchases.
Featured Links and Fan Recognition
One highly requested feature, Featured Links, is now available. Creators can add website links to their live broadcasts, directing fans to blogs, donation pages, or online stores. Viewers can access these links without leaving the live video.
The fan Badges experience has been redesigned for clarity. Creators can now easily identify supporting fans within the comments section, where badges appear next to their names.
Introducing “Front Row” and Enhanced Commenting
Meta will also test a new “Front Row” section, showcasing a creator’s most loyal viewers during a live broadcast. This feature, visually similar to Clubhouse, will facilitate direct interaction and shout-outs.
Commenting features are also being improved. Comment ranking will prioritize comments from creators on Reels, Facebook Live videos, and Live Audio Rooms, reducing spam and increasing visibility.
Creators can now quickly react to and respond to comments directly from their notifications.
Spotlight Conversations and Content Discovery
A new posting format, Spotlight Conversations, is being tested. This allows creators to engage in text-based discussions with invited guests, featuring separate comment sections for the creator/guest interaction and general audience participation.
Additionally, a new experience is being tested to help users discover content they may have missed from creators they follow directly within their News Feed.
Cross-Posting and Creator Focus
Creators can now easily cross-post content from Facebook to Instagram. A streamlined video creation process is also available directly within Facebook Watch.
These updates represent a significant investment in the creator experience on Facebook, potentially elevating its importance relative to Instagram, where many new features have historically launched first.
Meta has been progressively releasing these creator updates throughout the week. Alongside the Stars store, a new Professional Mode for Facebook profiles was introduced, providing creators with enhanced monetization options and analytics.
Further features are anticipated, with Zuckerberg mentioning upcoming “new controls and support features” for creators, details of which are yet to be revealed.
