Songtradr Raises $50M to Revolutionize Music Licensing

Songtradr Secures $50 Million in Series D Funding

Songtradr, a music licensing marketplace, announced a $50 million Series D funding round this morning. This investment was significantly oversubscribed and included participation from Regal, Aware Super, Perennial, Argo, and Greencape.

This latest financing follows a $30 million raise completed last August, increasing the Los Angeles-based company’s total funding to over $100 million.

Licensing Reach and Platform Users

The platform facilitates music licensing for prominent entities across various sectors. These include advertising, film, television, and gaming, with clients such as Disney, Netflix, Apple, Coca-Cola, Amazon, and Google.

Songtradr currently hosts music from approximately 600,000 musicians, songwriters, and rights holders.

Strategic Acquisitions and Funding Utilization

The company has demonstrated a consistent ability to effectively deploy its capital. Recently, it announced the acquisition of the creative agency, MassiveMusic.

Further acquisitions completed within the last year encompass Cuesongs, Song Zu, Pretzel, and Tunefind.

The newly acquired funding will be allocated towards additional mergers and acquisitions, the development of new product offerings, and expansion of the company’s global workforce.

Global Presence and Future Outlook

While headquartered in Los Angeles, Songtradr maintains a global presence with offices located in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

“We are rapidly accelerating as we continue to develop our tech-enabled B2B music ecosystem and integrate our new acquisitions,” stated CEO Paul Wiltshire in a press release.

Wiltshire further emphasized that the investment from a high-caliber investor group validates the company’s vision for the future of the music industry in the evolving digital landscape.

Revenue Growth

The company reported a 100% year-over-year revenue growth for the year 2020.
