Panasonic AI Wellness Coach - CES 2025

Panasonic's Umi: A New AI Wellness Companion
During CES 2025 in Las Vegas, Panasonic introduced Umi, its forthcoming digital assistant. This innovative system is designed to function as a personalized, AI-driven wellness coach for families.
Developed with Anthropic's Claude AI
Umi’s development is a collaborative effort with Anthropic, leveraging the capabilities of the Claude AI model. The intention, according to Panasonic, is to empower families to better “care, coordinate, and connect” with one another.
Focus on Family Goals and Interaction
The core functionality of Umi centers around assisting families in establishing objectives. Examples include increasing shared quality time or promoting greater physical activity. This is achieved through an interactive interface, enabling voice communication with the AI assistant.
Umi in Action: A Mobile App Experience
A demonstration at Panasonic’s CES keynote showcased Umi within a mobile application. Families can utilize this app for group chats with the AI, goal setting, routine creation, and task management.
Supporting Caregivers and Aging Parents
The app also presents a valuable resource for individuals providing care for elderly parents. It allows them to stay informed about the well-being of their family members, regardless of physical distance. Panasonic is collaborating with AARP to refine this aspect of the Umi platform.
Integration with Wellness Experts and Partners
Scheduled for a U.S. launch in 2025, Umi will connect users with a network of wellness professionals. These experts will provide guidance on cultivating healthy habits and establishing effective wellness routines.
Panasonic is partnering with several wellness-focused companies, including Aaptiv, Precision Nutrition, SleepScore Labs, Addition Wealth, Blue Apron, and Calm. These brands, collectively known as Panasonic Well’s Partner Collective, will integrate with Umi and future Panasonic Well initiatives.
Expanding Claude AI's Role Within Panasonic
The collaboration with Anthropic extends beyond consumer products. Panasonic intends to integrate Claude AI as a “strategic asset” across its operations. This includes improvements in areas such as customer service, sales, marketing, and software coding.
Specifically, the company anticipates enhanced efficiency and outcomes through the application of Claude’s AI capabilities in these key business functions.
