Sidewalk Labs Products Moving to Google

Sidewalk Labs Transitioning Products to Google
Alphabet’s ambitious smart city initiative, spearheaded by Sidewalk Labs, is nearing its conclusion. Google will now assume responsibility for the project’s developed products.
The announcement was made by Sidewalk Labs CEO Dan Doctoroff, who also revealed his departure due to health concerns. This information was verified by a company spokesperson to Engadget.
Product Integration and Canopy Buildings
Sidewalk Labs’ innovations will be integrated into Google’s existing portfolio. However, Alphabet intends to establish Canopy Buildings as an independent entity.
Doctoroff detailed that, beginning in the coming year, products such as Pebble, Mesa, Delve, and Affordable Electrification will become integral to Google’s urban sustainability initiatives.
Leadership Continuity
The leadership of these products will remain consistent, ensuring a smooth transition. Prem Ramaswami, President of Urban Products at Sidewalk Labs, and Craig Nevill-Manning, Chief Technology Officer, both former Google employees, will continue to guide their respective teams.
They will maintain their focus on realizing their original vision and providing continued service to their customer base.
The teams will continue to execute on their vision and serve customers.
