StaffAny Secures $3.4M Funding to Revolutionize Shift Management

StaffAny Secures $3.4 Million in Series A Funding
StaffAny, a workforce management solution tailored for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) employing shift workers, has successfully completed a $3.4 million Series A funding round. GGV Capital spearheaded the investment, with contributions from East Ventures, FreakOut Shinsei Fund, Far East Ventures, Farquhar Venture Capital, and several angel investors.
Among the angel investors is Allen Shim, who previously served as the Chief Financial Officer of Slack. The newly acquired capital will be strategically allocated to facilitate expansion into new geographical markets and to enhance the functionality of StaffAny’s existing platform.
Current Market Presence and Total Funding
Currently, StaffAny’s services are available in seven countries, including its home base of Singapore, as well as Malaysia and Indonesia. This latest funding round brings the total amount of capital raised by the startup to $4.2 million.
Target Customer Base
According to co-founder Janson Seah, StaffAny primarily serves businesses employing over 30 individuals. The platform caters to a diverse clientele, ranging from single-location businesses to large chains with over 1,000 employees.
Seah emphasized that while the platform is suitable for smaller businesses, it delivers the most significant value to SMEs with growth ambitions, where optimized labor processes and data-driven insights are crucial.
Addressing Inefficiencies in Shift Management
Prior to adopting StaffAny, many of its clients, predominantly in the food and beverage (F&B) and retail sectors, relied on less efficient methods such as spreadsheets, punch cards, or disconnected applications. These traditional methods often lacked the integration necessary for seamless synchronization of rosters, payroll, and leave management.
The StaffAny software provides a unified platform, enabling real-time communication between management and employees.
Key Features of the StaffAny Platform
- Online Rostering: Managers can view staff schedules across multiple locations and forecast future staffing needs and associated labor costs.
- Automated Scheduling: Open shifts are automatically filled, and staff members receive immediate notifications regarding schedule changes or shift requests.
- Mobile Clocking: Employees can clock in and out using their smartphones, eliminating the need for traditional punch cards or manual sign-in sheets.
- Automated Payroll Adjustments: Payroll calculations are automatically updated to reflect any changes in employee hours.
- Timesheet Visibility: Both staff and management have access to timesheets, facilitating error detection and reducing pay disputes.
Additional Functionality and Pandemic Adaptations
Beyond core scheduling and payroll features, StaffAny offers tools for managing leave requests and tracking employee performance for auditing purposes. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the platform incorporated features for contact tracing, testing reminders, and vaccination status verification, aligning with local regulations.
GGV Capital’s Perspective
Jixun Foo, global managing partner at GGV Capital, stated that despite the significant challenges faced by the F&B industry during the COVID-19 pandemic, StaffAny experienced substantial growth and widespread adoption among SMEs. This success is attributed to the platform’s robust product offering and the resilience of its leadership team.
GGV Capital actively invests in SMB technology globally and is enthusiastic about collaborating with StaffAny as it continues to expand and scale its operations.
