SpaceX Launches 60 Starlink Satellites - 15th Mission

SpaceX has successfully deployed another set of 60 Starlink satellites, a crucial component of its planned worldwide broadband internet system. The launch occurred at 11:31 AM EDT, originating from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. Representing the fifteenth Starlink mission to date, SpaceX has now placed approximately 900 of these compact, low Earth orbit satellites into service.

A Falcon 9 first-stage booster, utilized for a second time this year – including a previous Starlink satellite delivery just last month – powered this launch. Following stage separation, the booster achieved a successful recovery, landing on SpaceX’s autonomous drone ship, “Just Read the Instructions,” positioned in the Atlantic Ocean.

This week, Ector County Independent School District in Texas revealed a new partnership with SpaceX’s Starlink network. The district anticipates receiving access to high-speed, low-latency broadband through Starlink next year, initially serving up to 45 homes, with a future expansion to 90 households as the satellite constellation grows and becomes fully operational.

SpaceX intends for Starlink to deliver broadband access on a global scale, offering speeds and responsiveness not previously accessible in remote and underserved regions. The extensive constellation, projected to eventually encompass tens of thousands of satellites, provides significant benefits in latency and dependability compared to traditional, large geosynchronous satellites currently used for commercial satellite internet services.
