User-Driven Development

Eats reports that the development of this feature was directly influenced by user feedback. Approximately 80% of users indicated they had previously used alternative map applications to search for nearby food options.

The map is currently being deployed worldwide and is now accessible to the majority of Uber Eats users, as confirmed by a company spokesperson.

How the Pickup Map Works

Within both the Uber Eats and Uber apps, users can select either “Delivery” or “Pickup” from options displayed at the top of the screen.

Selecting “Pickup” activates the map interface.

Entering a food item, such as a burger or pizza emoji, will guide the user to nearby establishments offering those items. Uber states this provides a more efficient and engaging way to discover local businesses.

This functionality is designed to be both a time-saver and a more enjoyable method for exploring local dining and commerce opportunities.
