Fiverr Introduces Subscription Options for Freelancers
Fiverr is implementing a novel billing method for its freelance workforce – offering services through three- or six-month subscriptions.

This new functionality allows sellers on Fiverr to commit to delivering a specific scope of work on a monthly basis. Offering subscriber discounts is an option, but not a mandatory requirement.
Cancellation is permitted by either the buyer or seller at any point, without incurring penalties for the unfulfilled subscription period. However, the discounted pricing structure only takes effect starting in the second month, preventing exploitation of the system for single-use discounts.
Shifting Landscape of Freelance Work
Natasha Shine-Zirkel, Business Verticals Group Manager, explained that while Fiverr initially gained prominence as a platform for “one-time” or project-based engagements, a growing trend towards ongoing work has emerged.
Consequently, the company has decided to streamline the process of both providing and compensating for this continuous work.
Businesses opting for subscriptions will benefit from access to high-quality sellers and the opportunity to cultivate lasting professional relationships. Furthermore, it eliminates the repetitive task of detailing project requirements with each new request.
For freelancers, this system promises increased predictability in both workload and income streams.
Initial Rollout and Expansion Plans
Fiverr Subscriptions are currently being offered to a select group of the platform’s “top freelancers” across eight distinct categories.

Shine-Zirkel stated that the initial, limited launch is intended to facilitate learning from experienced, high-performing sellers who already maintain established client relationships.
The chosen categories represent a blend of traditionally retainer-based work and project-based tasks, enabling Fiverr to analyze how buyers and sellers utilize the feature in diverse scenarios.
This launch is viewed as a preliminary step, with plans to extend subscription availability to a wider range of freelancers and service categories in the future.
Introducing Fiverr Milestones
Alongside the subscription feature, Fiverr is also introducing Milestones, a system designed to manage larger projects. This involves dividing a substantial job into smaller, manageable segments.
Payment is released to the freelancer upon successful completion of each individual milestone, providing a structured approach to long-term projects.
